The poll shows that there are substantial number of cases from Yr 2004 or earlier. This shows that the Dates will be going back in October Visa bulletin. If the number of applications are 50 times of the polled numbers, then also it will take 2-3 years to clear the Yr 2004 and earlier applications.

My only concern is AC21 letters not getting into your file and USCIS issuing a NOID or a denial.
Other than notifying CIS of our job change, there is nothing else we can do. If it results in a denial, it is easy enough to reverse that, so I would not worry about it.
I am changing jobs in 2 weeks. As I said earlier, I am prepared for my employer revoking the 140 and CIS denying my 485 by mistake. At this point, I am not even bothering to notify CIS about my job change.

I watched the entire fiinal. Apart from kavya my favorites were Kyle Mou and Tim ruiter. This was Kyle's last chance, but I hope Tim wins next year.
Just thinking aloud : Out of 11 finalist 8 were kids of immigrant parents (7 of them indian). is it just co-incidence ?
I hope after watching this, americans should now have no doubts that imiigrants are here not because they work for less but because they are good at what they do and they are hard working people.

Adjustment in Dollar exchange is good for both US and Indian economy, if $ hits Rs 38, this will certainly makes outsourcing even more expensive, Indian companies which are currently overrated will have much needed adjustment and the ripple effect of which can be seen in local Indian market such as realestate etc. In a long run this is good,

It will bring down the workload? Can you explain how? If anyone in the world is eligible to apply for the GC without sponsorship, the system will be flooded with applications, irrespective of whether they carry any merit or not. What makes you think that an organization that cannot process 140K applications per year can handle millions?
The point based system sounds great in theory, but cannot be implemented efficiently by the U.S. as long as it remains the most desired country for immigrants. It works for Canada, Australia and the U.K. because fewer people want to move there.
Anybody wont be eligible. Canada has been fine tuning the immigration since 2002.
Now only people who have studied or worked in Canada on work permit are eligible.
family based is greatly restricted unlike US where around 80 is non-skill based.
If they want they always reform but the exiting H1B is so good for American Companies that they will fight to keep the existing H1B-GC servitude instead of

Plus there is politics of vote bank: Moment the CIR comes, the sheer stampede of illegal lobby like the bulls of Spain, H1B folks get crushed. This is like the banana joke in an old tamil movie, it is over 157 days and the USCIS now wants to go by processing times which mention july 3rd processing date, which is still late, but then they will say it is just one day over your receipt date.
If I were planning to use my EAD now or in the near future I would just cough up $380 and apply for a fresh EAD instead of chasing USCIS.
If it works, then it is money well spent compared to running back and forth to USCIS offices, calling them daily and all the painful aggravation involved.
I will gladly spend 380 instead of risking the possiblity of picking up Diabetes or Blood pressure due to stress.

As per 2006 and 2007 CIR, only illegal immigrants get green card easy. Legals like us - it will become even more difficult. read the text of previous CIRs and new CIR will not be different. Below is the text, it clearly excludes legals from legalization. Hope I would have been daring enough to be illegal. Definately, illegals are the vote banks and they get all the attention.

I would stay at least 6 months with employer after getting a GC, unless ofcourse demanded by circumstances!
Are there any implications of leaving my employer now who sponsored me for GC? I got my GC on the first week of July. I plan to leave on the 1st week of September. Thank you very much.

maybe some day in the not too distant future, when the days of bonded H-1b labor end, a person who has lost time and passed up opportunites can actually go to a court and sue DOL and USCIS for damages and opportunity costs.
Not only the opportunity costs, there are real costs also. My salary is frozen because I reached highest possible in my current role. Till I get the Greencard, I will be loosing real money.

Thanks for the info. I went and pulled up the 9089 filing and just saw that the filing date was 15th may 2006, the expiry date was 3/31/2008 and hence i might have incorrectly assumed that the filing date was 2 years before that.

out of all useful land , I guess africa has lots of uninhabited land!, so someone would not mind selling! Its not to offend anyone. I have great respect for africans, being aware that we come from them!
Me being an indian upper class guy, and this OBC thing going on back home, I dont think I belong to that country that much, where me/my children will be discreminated against!!!
