Few things to add:
1) You need to determine sufficient coverage. If you have a mortgage and children, $500K is the minimum. A 30 year term non-smoker age 35+ should be about $350/year. You usually get a discount if you buy a policy for your wife too. If you try to purchase a whole life for $500K coverage, the premium will be ridiculous...probably $1500 to $2K/year.
2) I always remind myself of the KISS rule (Keep it simple stupid). If you want protection buy term insurance, if you want to save/invest buy stocks, mutual funds, bonds, etc. Don't try to mix them.
3) To protect your familiy, think of the 3 areas: Death, disability and illness. Dying is the easy part...you die, your family gets a lump sum. Maybe if we can repeat the flower campaign, and send the flowers with a note attached to the DoJ, they might get to notice it. Or, we can send the flowers to the president to appraise him of the issues that face us. What we do need to stress is the fact that dependents are being allocated immigrant visas that actually belong to the employed applicants, thereby creating a larger backlog. Your case is eligible the chances are high that you'll get it, if dates remain current. And as folks have mentioned, 180 days rule applies. Your infopass will tell you clearly what's happening to your NC but that is immaterial.

I and my wife are debating whether to apply OCI or PIO card for our son who was born in US and has a US passport. We both hold Indian passport.
Can you experts please suggest which is the better route? The Indian consulate phone number is of not much help. It just keeps going in infinite loop and does not connect to a real person.
To best of my knowledge, at least one parent must have US citizenship to get OCI ( the rules were different earlier - may be 3-4 years back ).

If we need to facilitate our provisions, this is what we need to do rather than sending any email or calls. They will have 0% effect at this time. Infact anyone sending emails from a junk email ID without revealing their name, phone number and home address in the email is wasting their energy and hurting themselves and others in this community. Lawmakers want to hear from their constituents and you need to be a real person. An office should be able to contact you and know you have a legitimate concern in their constituency. You should urge others not to undertake such misguided attempts of spamming lawmaker offices and follow a proper process instead. One of my friend with same PD as me (Jun 2004) got approved sometime in Aug/Sep 2007. His labor was pproved in a month from NH and I-485 was filed long back when dates were current for EB3 India (early 2005?).
It is for sure that there are a few EB3 approvals this FY ? I know a lot more guys with PDs in 2002 and 2003 who got approved.

India EB-2 moved by approx 6 months. China EB-2 did not move. Actually, EB-2 India has gone back to where it was before it became unavailable last year. Unfortunately, we may not see a lot of further movt in EB-2 India if all those labor numbers (cleared) are correct. But this is good news for those who applied for labor in late 2002, but their application was pending for a horrendous amount of time and just got cleared. They can get EADs.

I received my EAD last month. But no AP yet. However, i received an email from my lawyer today that.....my AP got rejected. The rejection letter is saying that I485 got approved that's why the I131 is rejected.....therefore, my lawyer is waiting for the I485 approval.....but my lawyer told me that I can expect my card soon.
I don't know how to react. The online doesn't have any update about the I485 status yet. They received my application on July 2, 2007.

Is the use of EAD possible from 180 days after Receipt date or notice date ? I just crossed the 160 day mark, but I still dont have EAD. Can I use the requirement to use EAD(like a pending job offer) as a reason for Emergency to expedite my EAD, the uscis folks want some real reason to expedite the EAD application.

If not all, many of you are in the similar situation.
My $200 contribution is just 1.33% of that lost opportunity per annum. If I take into consideration the 4 years of wait, it comes to 0.33%.
Almost anybody who is in US for 5 years on H1B can buy an nice little home. (Bay area is bit more cruel).
Last year I could have bought a home for say 500K. It would have surely appreciated by 50K. But because of the uncertainty of GC, I can not. That's a loss of opportunity of 50K.
My $200 contribution is just 0.4% of that another lost opportunity.
Now you know why I support this effort.
Most of you and your friends are in a situation similar as mine.
I urge you to become aware, make them aware and support this effort, which has a potential to minimize those lost financial opportunities, with your wallet.

Green Tech, There is a history of posts with buddyinfo alias buddyinusa alias buddyinuk etc etc. This guy has a background of sounding like someone from India, and attacking specific community, pitching one against the other, which it typical terrorist mid-set. The other day he pretended like someone from north India and attacked people from AP. He was also supportive and sympathic towards terrorist who attacked Mumbai on 11/26. I am sure he has heard of IP hiding techniques. If I were banned based on my IP, and I consistently want to post dividing threads on IV, would I not use a hidemyip plugin or post thru one of the hide my IP websites?

Dont give him ideas. I wouldnt ban based on IP as I know many guys from same company can be members of IV. We dont want to ban all of them.
Second, I would not ban him, instead make him part of us for a collective action. He seems to have a big group and they are planning to do somethings in which we have interests too. If his agenda if fully like those of IV or mine in my thread, then its not a bad idea to do something rather than waiting for a shubh ding for EB3 to become current or move drastically. I see no hope unless we raise our voice together.
