If you need any kind of savvy to effectively and productively use an operating system, the operating system is poorly designed.
Sorry, guys. New rules for the post-PC era. Complexity is OUT. Get with the game. Forget conventional IT logic. It no longer applies.
Anyone who chooses the simplest operating system (like OS X and iOS, obviously) to accomplish the same tasks *is* savvy.

The only place in North America where gas is ridiculously HIGH....QUEBEC. Taxes represent 30-35% of the cost of gas. *sigh* But at least our roads are smooth... Oh no wait, they are not.

It's sold out already!
I just saw that when I got home from work to buy my ticket.
Pretty upset about this one...

My MBA Ultimate is perfect for me right now as my sole working machine. This is simply a super balanced laptop for those seeking mobility and reasonable performance. No need for me to fix what's not broken right now.
I won't be jumping in on a SB+HD3000 upgrade, so I will pass on the next update until Ivy comes out (as long as it's paired with a decent GPU and not with a lame HD3000-like).Why does everybody repeat the mantra 'Ivy Bridge'? Will it make the Intel's HD 3000 perform better in some kind of mysterious magical way? Or do you expect that by the time IB is released Intel will have developed a new, presumably better, IGP? Shall we expect the same comments "Intel IGP sucks I'm gonna skip IB and wait for whatever-bridge" again next year?
I am aware that, of all computers Apple produces, the MBA will suffer the most from advancements of technology because it is not upgradeable. So, if there are some radical improvements that IB will introduce that I might be interested in I will join the camp of people who will wait. The present 11" can't do the job I like it to, I need a faster processor but I like the form of 11" MBA.

Gutted I didn't get a free T-Shirt, they were all sold out when I got in. I arrived earlier than expected, pretty much bang on 6. An Apple Store employee came out and told us we were queuing in the wrong bit, it was at that point everyone realized the queue went round the entire block!
Installing Leopard as we speak, only just got in, spent all night at the Studio talking! (Apologies to the friendly Apple employees my friend and I were talking to all night propping up the bar!).
Dam tubes getting slower at night time!
Was quite interesting seeing the diversity, I enjoyed it, just wish I had a T-shirt.
Was there much chatting in the line or were people keeping themselves to themselves?

Unless reporting someone to the FBI counts as "aiding and abetting" I don't agree.
I didn't realize assisting in procuring abortion for child prostitutes counted as reporting to the FBI
mea culpa
Have the idiots said why exactly they want to kill Planned Parenthood? Is it because they claim most of Planned Parenthood's budget goes towards abortion, (which is not true)? I was watching Bill Mahr last night and the conservative on his panel said that originally the Tea Bagger movement claimed to be about money, budget issues, taxes. But the PP show down over the federal budget shows that they also have a social agenda.
If they are truly worried about paying for welfare, you'd think they'd be thrilled if the low income families were popping out less babies by means of contraception...
People are a nation's greatest asset. Planned Parenthood should not be funded by the government, all incoming money goes into one pot and then distributed thus some money goes towards abortions.

Luckily none of you have a Mac Pro with build 8K1079. It is complete *****. Build 8K1079 is horrible, hell-half of System Preferences doesn't work, Rosetta can't keep PPC apps open, can't plug in some USB devices, can't restart without holding power button down, the curtain of death happens.....a lot. So many problems with build 8K1079 that we don't/can't use it at work here.
I have a Mac Pro with that build. I've had no serious problems. The only odd thing is that sometimes when I when I go into date/time preferences dialog and try to change something in there the color wheel spins for a couple of minutes and then the controls in there don't work right. All the other system preferences appear to work normally. I've had no other problems. Even iTunes 7 works fine.
Nevertheless, I'm looking forward to an update. OS upgrades are always cool.

answer this myself... apparently they use I / 2100 as well.
Yeah, Voda has 2100 in the main cities and 900 elsewhere. Telecom has 850 nationwide, which is more suitable for a 3G(S) if you need to use it outside the main cities.

KIA joined that group over a year ago (http://www.businessweek.com/blogs/eyeonasia/archives/2009/11/koreas_kia_opens_auto_plant_in_us.html). :D
Correct, though I hadn't said my list was all-inclusive. :p
IIRC, and more relevant to the post I was responding to, Volkswagen was looking at a plant site in Chattanooga at one time, but I'm not sure that ever went forward.

Push works AWESOME on Kerio Connect 7 to the iPhone, 6 worked great also. It uses an outlook connector for it's black magic. Email are generally pushed to and appear on my iPhone within a second of hitting the server.
Before SLS I used mail server software on linux. The general idea was that Apple promoted SLS as THE server to use with an iPhone, which apparently isn't completely true. I don't think I want to pay a yearly subscription for another mail server again.

Could be they made many more Verizon models. Could also be that ATT models are being bought for resale overseas. Nothing wrong with that, which is what the OP was implying, I think..
Nah. You put too much thought into his post. He's just saying that the people who bought Verizon iPads are stupid.

I still think Option 1 is superior. If a "Hardware", "Software" split was done, pages like "iPhone" and "iPhone Applications" would be split up, which isn't necessary. "iPhone" needs its own category.
I agree, but I think sebastianlewis is right that we probably don't need to split Mac Laptop and Mac Desktop. The "mac hardware guides" category also isn't needed they can just be in the base Mac Hardware category.

There were about 20 people in line at the Southlake Apple Store this morning at 7am. Manager came out at 8am with cards for available iPads and there were plenty for everyone and some to boot. I wanted the black 32gb, but was forced to go white 32gb when they ran out of that one popular configuration. After 3 months missing my lost iPad, I'm back in business. Oh how I've missed this thing!

web applications that don't require install of real programs, then I'll grant "mac-users" that one.
How is a web application not a real program ? It's written in a programming language, it executes instructions based on how the code is compiled/interpreted, and it displays results by processing some user input.
Sounds like a real program to me.
Anyway, "installing" a computer program or application is savvy ? Then what does it mean when you compile your applications straight from the source code ? Better yet, write them yourself ?
Considering that nearly all "Pro IT" overwhelmingly used Windows
Please, all the guys who are any good at IT are Unix users. "Windows" sysadmins suck. It's a dirty secret and don't tell my boss : I probably know more about Windows than they do. I just don't want to work with it.
not to mention that "gamers" are one of the most comptuer-savvy consumers
Laughable. Gamers are good at one thing : Buying parts and jamming them together. It's not like they even come close to understanding what is meant by sub-pixel tessellation and what that means on their screens (or even what a sub-pixel is).

If you drive for work, there is a good chance you drive in the same areas, I can't see this app not caching maps.
Exactly. I really don't think Garmin is THAT stupid. There has to be some system of caching...perhaps it's just false-hope since i spent $40 on the damn app, but It's only logical...

And it begins.
I suspect we'll see a few more announcements in the near future - all meant to kick the Zune's butt. :D
No kidding!! iPod integration in airplanes!??! The iPod connector is becoming as much of a standard as a headphone jack is.

Kinda agree i could seem myself using a iPad over my MBP when i am not working, having that separation from programming is what appeals to me.
I want to work when i work and not have to think when i am just browsing the web, in reality the iPad covers all my computing needs when i am not programming.
Though it would be lovely to have Aperture on the iPad to cover my hobby needs but it would require some from of local wireless storage access as i don't think many 25MB images would fit on 64GB.
but people that have 25MB images and need Aperture at all wouldn't be considered "normal" either

Supposedly, according to Gamestop, within 1 business day, although some other posts I have come across seem less optimistic (maybe they're just trolls...)
Either way, I put in a pre-order, if I don't get my beta key before too long I might cancel, I might not... I'm more of a digital download fella anyway...
So what if I pre ordered this game a year or more ago.....
I'm pretty sure it's been at least a year. My buddy pre ordered me and him a copy. I'll see if he got the email.

At this point ill believe it when I see it. I think that the only thing all these Darn rumors asy is how mcuh everyone in general would love an apple phone. done right, an iphone could easily replace most peoples phones and ipods. add into it, home on ipod, and I see a winner. but this is all speculation... ill belive it when i see it
Here's what I'm sick and tired of:

"The video iPod will still come out this year. No, seriously this time."

they do a little but not to the extent of background processes, and having 20 push apps takes no more battery life than having 1, unless you get very frequent pushes from them of course.
Push Notifications are when your phone automatically checks for updates, alerts etc. without you having to open the app right? I guess it's just misleading to me because when I hear "push" notifications, I think of something that happens when I push the app or open it up.
Thanks for the fast response!
